The USG6715F features two 16-core 2.0 GHz high-performance CPUs (32 cores total) and 64GB of RAM, delivering a total throughput of up to 160 Gbit/s and an IPSec VPN throughput of 45 Gbit/s, with a maximum concurrent connection capacity of 50 million. Its built-in NP, pattern matching, and encryption/decryption coprocessor engines effectively improve small packet forwarding performance and reduce forwarding latency, providing ample performance for enabling advanced security features such as intrusion prevention and antivirus.

The USG6715F offers a rich variety of interface types, including two 100GE QSFP28 interfaces, two 40GE QSFP+ interfaces, eight 25GE SFP28 interfaces, and twenty 10GE SFP+ interfaces. This is a key difference between it and other models in the series, such as the USG6710F.
