Huawei helps the government of Alicante Province in Spain build an agile e-government network

Tourists and citizens bring dual pressure, and the provincial e-government network urgently needs to be upgraded
Alicante Province is located in southeastern Spain, with a pleasant climate and is a famous tourist destination in Spain. It has bright sunshine, endless beaches, and unique cuisine all year round. In addition to the 2 million permanent population, over 8.5 million tourists, freelancers, and remote workers come here every year, bringing enormous management pressure to the Alicante provincial government.

Diputaci ó n de Alicante is a public institution dedicated to serving the citizens of Alicante, responsible for all government operations in the province of Alicante. On the one hand, it has about 2000 employees in 45 branches, providing information infrastructure and technology for 121 city halls in Alicante Province; on the other hand, it provides Internet services for 10 million citizens and tourists, including tourism and social APP, remote desktop and conference, accounting and ticket management.

However, the Alicante e-government network has been in use for 10 years and faces various management and maintenance issues:

At the same time, traditional CLI management leads to increased operation and maintenance costs, and limited manpower cannot be familiar with all command lines of different devices.

The equipment is outdated and the warranty is about to expire, which cannot meet the needs of business development
With the popularization of information technology, the provincial government is committed to using new technologies to improve social management and public services. The existing network cannot meet the needs of business development, and the equipment is outdated and unable to configure some new functions. For example, the demand for cloud applications and Voice over IP (VoIP) services continues to grow.

Multi departmental collaboration makes operations and maintenance complex, hindering the implementation of network automation
The number of data center businesses is gradually increasing, and there is no clear isolation and identification of access between businesses. After frequent problems occur, multiple departments (such as network, security, business, and IT) need to collaborate to troubleshoot, resulting in low operational efficiency and difficult problem localization.

Manual configuration and deployment are inefficient and prone to errors
With the development of cities and business needs, network changes are frequent, and manual operations rely more on experience. A change often takes a week or more, and network failures often occur due to misoperation, leading to business interruptions.
